Tackling Training & Development Challenges Head-On

Since 2017, LGDVH has seen exponential growth in terms of business needs and workforce, including the Korean employees that are involved in key technical areas and management positions. With predominantly Vietnamese personnel (98.7%) of which many lack practical experience with brand-new advanced technology, this created several hurdles ensuring effective communication flow as well as transferring technical knowledge from Korean experts. However, the company has implemented innovative strategies to overcome obstacles and optimize learning opportunities for its workforce.

Throughout the implementation process, LG Display encountered various obstacles. However, they have practically and creatively addressed these challenges: 

Trainees have a snow grasp of related to technical courses.

Train all Technicians in the shortest time (6 months) at Basic level from Level 1- Level 3 to keep up with production needs.

Insufficient Facilities during pick season

• Expanding the 4th floor at Training Center.
• Renovate, build more outside training building.

Trainers lacking pedaggogical

• Combine with outside Korean language centers & invite university lecturers to directly participate in teaching.
• Expanding the Korean language contest, cultural exchange between Vietnam and Korea.
• Allowance policy to adjust Korean for those who reach TOPIK 4 and above.

Unique Styles

• Cooperate with the 3rd parties to invite trainers to teach Train the Trainer.
• Increase teaching fee for trainers based on the rule of time, experience and student assessment.

The new solutions have also been more Refreshing & Creative than previously. In the past, recognition and rewards were only implemented for a specific group of individuals at certain events. Now LG Display has implemented a system-wide standardization to recognize individuals with outstanding achievements through digital boards, magazines, email notifications, and other communication channels.

LG Display also focuses more on creating a positive work environment through welfare activities to improve employee health and provide training to enhance their individual capabilities

These efforts have brought LG Display great results. Resignation rate has been reduced and qualified employees attracted, including university graduates and above.
